This was an awesome chapter, jillcat! As I told you when you mentioned loving Breacon before you started this story, my problem with the couple was Brooke doing such a thing to your daughter (even if Bridget is a little twit on the show). But you have created a beautiful love re-discovery story and I am enjoying it. And I love the understanding and love between Brooke and Bridget, too. Thanks!

I'm so glad you're enjoying my story, Janice. I guess what I'm aiming for with this story is to write exactly the re-discovery of love that you mention. The relationship was so hot, the chemistry between the two amazing, and the love very real - but as we know, doomed from the start because of Brooke's betrayal of Bridget. As a Deacon fan, I felt very cheated by the way the original story played out and decided to try and set it right, for myself if for no-one else. I'm not a Bridget fan at the best of times. The way she buried her head in the sand about Deacon's reasons for marrying her (despite every single one of her loved ones giving her the facts) always bugged me - could anyone have been more dense? I intensely dislike her "I'm the victim" stance (with Nick as well as Deacon) when the only person responsible for her own refusal to deal with reality is herself. I'm glad to hear that you think my Bridget is working in the story. It's such a pleasure to receive compliments from a writer whose work I enjoy so much - I especially love the unfolding story between Brooke and the Professor, not to mention Eric and Catherine - Eric is a character I often find difficult to like on screen, but I love him in your story

Thanks for your nice words about my story. If you're reading Miss JR's Bricky story on The Shady Marlin, that's a great example of what Eric used to be like. If he seemed slightly weak at times, it was because he cared about someone. It is hard to like him as he is now, but the actor has always been one of my favorites (I adored him as Lance Prentiss on Y&R years ago.) and I followed him to B&B. It's sad what Bell has done to him.

I'm definitely reading "Shattered Dreams". I'm completely addicted to Miss JR's story.
I used to be a huge fan of Lance as well. I can totally buy the Eric in both yours and Miss JR's stories. I find it's often the case that characters I don't particularly like on screen I can totally enjoy in fan fic. A testament to the writers, compared to the hacks who generally write for the show itself.
It's a shame the 'reel' Eric is such a wimp for the most part - having his women fight his battles for him is not an admirable trait. The only times I really enjoy him on screen are when he stands up for Brooke and their children.
